Description

The Orthopaedic Appointment Scheduler is responsible for scheduling patient appointments, coordinating with physicians and clinical staff, and ensuring accurate and timely patient information management. This role requires excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Promptly and courteously answer phone calls and respond to caller queries regarding appointments or general information.
• Schedule patients for office visits by evaluating their needs to determine appropriate provider and location based on conversation with the patient and insurance.
• Obtain proper spelling of patient’s name, address, phone numbers, insurance carrier, reason for appointment, and details of how injury occurred.
• Attach the proper insurance carrier.
• Advise patients if the doctor participates with their insurance or if referral/authorization is required.
• Maintain and update patient information when making follow‑up appointments.
• Call patients to confirm appointments.
• Complete incoming requests from referring providers.
• Be knowledgeable of physicians’ preferences and areas of expertise.
• Route calls to relevant departments or personnel.
• Provide coverage for the operator as needed.
• Reschedule patient appointments.
• Check scheduling voicemail box and return calls.
