Houston Astros, LLC is seeking a Manager, Applied Sport Science to support the Player Care & Performance staff in athlete monitoring and performance testing workflows. The role will oversee strength and conditioning aspects of return-to-play for MLB players rehabilitating in Houston, with daily interaction across PC&P staff, field coaches, team physicians, R&D, and front office members.

The position is based in Houston, TX with travel required, including the Spring Training period in West Palm

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Sport Physiology, Sport Science, kinesiology, Exercise Science or related field
• 5+ years of experience in applied sport science and strength & conditioning at NCAA or professional level
• CSCS certification from NSCA
• RSCC registration with NSCA
• Strong familiarity with sport science monitoring equipment (e.g., force plates, GPS units, force frame, Hawkeye)
• Proficiency in R-Studio, Python and working knowledge of SQL
• Ability to manage project timelines and deliverables
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Professionalism in high-stress situations and with coaching staff/players
• CPR/AED certified; relocation to Houston, TX required

Responsabilités

• Budget, estimate, and prioritize high level project details and timelines
• Standardize, develop, and improve data collection protocols for assessments
• Support ingestion and automation of sport science platforms and reports
• Troubleshoot and maintain sport science testing equipment
• Manage applied sport science vendor relationships
• Stay up to date on current research methods in the field
• Manage player load, optimize schedule, and maximize performance outcomes
• Maintain consistent return to play standards and progressions for Houston Astros PC&P
• Collaborate with athletic trainers, physical therapists, strength coaches, and other staff
• Assist with phasic progression of return to play and rehab of 40-Man players
• Communicate injury/rehab updates to Head AT and Head S&C Coach
• Adhere to Astros Handbooks and PC&P directives
• Perform other duties as assigned
