Job summary

Amazon in Bellevue, WA is seeking an Applied Scientist to build forecasting and prediction models that feed workforce planning and optimization systems. You will work with economists and engineers to connect forecasts with policy levers and to productionize models that impact real hiring decisions.

You will own the end-to-end modeling lifecycle from prototype to deployment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy, calibration, and actionable insights for business partners.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of building models for business applications.
• PhD or Master plus 4+ years in CS/CE/ML or related field.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop forecasting and prediction models for workforce planning systems.
• Build models from prototype to production-level systems and support them.
• Partner with economists to connect forecasts with causal estimates of policy levers.
• Extend models to new sites, shifts, and business lines as the platform expands.
• Translate ambiguous business problems into modeling approaches and drive technical design with partners.
