Job summary

Amazon is seeking an Applied Scientist for the People eXperience Technology Central Science (PXTCS) team in Seattle. You will own forecasting and prediction models that feed Amazon's workforce planning, working with economists and engineers to deploy models into production and influence policy levers.

You will quantify model performance, backtest features, and present results to planners and finance partners, ensuring accuracy and actionable insights at scale.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building models for business applications.
• PhD or Master's with 4+ years in CS/CE/ML or related field.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related languages.

Responsibilities

• Design forecasting and prediction models for workforce planning.
• Build prototypes and production-ready models; support post-deployment.
• Collaborate with economists to connect forecasts with causal estimates of policy levers.
• Extend models to new sites, shifts, and business lines as the platform expands.
• Translate business problems into modeling approaches and drive technical design with partners.
