Amazon’s Modeling and Optimization (MOP) team seeks an Applied Scientist to advance optimization and analytics for Amazon’s global transportation and fulfillment network. You will design and deploy scalable models and tools, collaborating with scientists across teams to improve speed, cost, and carbon emissions.

The role requires strong quantitative expertise, experience in operations research or related fields, and proficiency in Java, C++, or Python.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree in a STEM field with 4+ years of related experience.
• 3+ years building models for business applications.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python.
• Experience in algorithms, data structures, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, HPC.
• Publications or patents in top-tier venues are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy scalable models and tools for Amazon’s global fulfillment network.
• Collaborate with other scientists to create integrated solutions that improve speed, cost, and carbon emissions.
• Provide scientific analysis to support business decisions using a range of methodologies.
• Design science tool platforms, deploy models, create data pipelines or streamline existing processes.
