Job summary

Amazon’s Alexa Enterprise team seeks an Applied Scientist with a strong background in speech and audio ML to join a fast-moving, startup-style environment. You will develop models to boost speech-to-text accuracy for domain use cases and optimize real-time audio pipelines across cloud services and enterprise deployments.

You’ll partner with software engineers to productionize advances, work with enterprise customers to understand quality challenges, and communicate results to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree plus 4+ years in CS/CE/ML or related field.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.
• Knowledge of standard speech and machine learning techniques.
• Exposure to algorithms, data structures, optimization, and distributed computing.

Responsibilities

• Develop modeling techniques to improve speech-to-text accuracy for domain use cases.
• Evaluate, adapt, and fine-tune speech and audio models for latency and cost.
• Improve end-to-end audio pipelines, from signal processing to transcription.
• Design datasets, benchmarks, experiments reflecting customer use cases.
• Collaborate with engineers to productionize models and measure deployment impact.
• Write and present results, mentor teammates, and contribute to team science direction.
• Partner with customers to validate improvements and scale capabilities.
