Job summary

Amazon is seeking an Applied Science Manager to lead a cross-functional team of scientists and engineers building production ML and bandit solutions to personalise the SP ad experience in Amazon search. You will own experimentation systems, models, and online serving infrastructure, guiding a vision for contextualising ads and driving shopper impact.

You’ll work to balance advertiser, shopper, and Amazon needs, solve challenging problems, and scale real-time LLM/ML solutions for billions of ads

Qualifications

• 4+ years of applied research experience in ML or related field.
• 3+ years of scientists or ML engineers management experience.
• 3+ years building ML models for business applications.
• PhD or Master’s with 6+ years of applied research experience.
• Knowledge of ML, NLP, IR and analytics.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of scientists and engineers in scalable ML solutions.
• Develop vision for contextualising and personalising SP ads in search.
• Drive data-driven product strategy with quantitative measures.
• Solve complex science and business problems balancing advertisers, shoppers, and Amazon.
• Own a portfolio of long-term investments for ads and retail growth.
• Develop real-time LLM/ML algorithms to allocate billions of ads daily.
• Create efficient multi-objective optimisation and AI control methods.
• Develop ML/AI talent across advertising, economics, and optimisation.
