Job summary

Montgomery College – Rockville Campus, is seeking a part-time faculty member in Applied Geography for Fall 2026. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, dedicated, self-motivated and professional with a strong commitment to student success. Duties include classroom instruction, assessment, and using instructional technology.

Open Educational Resources (OERs) are used to save costs. Teaching may be face-to-face, online, hybrid, or blended across three campuses.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in geography or related discipline.
• Minimum of five years’ undergraduate teaching experience.
• Ability to integrate technology and classroom software into course delivery.
• Experience in online or remote teaching utilizing Blackboard.
• Evidence of teaching or work experience in the field of geography.
• Currency in social science and natural science geography courses.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Access to a personal computer with virus protection and internet access outside of work location.
• Commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.

Responsibilities

• Teach General Education courses in geography across multiple subfields.
• Deliver diverse schedules including day, night, weekend, online, and accelerated sections.
• Engage students with active, collaborative, and innovative teaching methods.
• Maintain office hours and meet with students outside of class.
• Mentor students to support academic and professional success.
• Integrate Blackboard and other technology into instruction.
• Participate in Gamma Theta Upsilon where appropriate.
• Teach on all three Montgomery College campuses and online as needed.
• Create and teach online courses and remote structured teaching.
