Job summary

Chobani is seeking a Process Engineering Intern to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. You will work with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and other cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, analyze process performance, troubleshoot losses, and implement improvements.

The internship focuses on throughput, yield, reliability, process capability, water/utilities, and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Industrial, Chemical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Completion of at least two years of engineering coursework preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working with data; experience with Excel and data visualization/analysis tools preferred.
• Willingness to spend significant time working in an active manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with operators, frontline leaders, engineers, and other cross-functional partners.
• Ability to take ownership of a project and move from problem identification analysis solution implementation validation.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly present technical information and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Partner directly with Processing Operations to identify and solve manufacturing losses and constraints.
• Analyze process data to identify trends, variation, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
• Lead or support projects focused on yield/productivity, throughput, reliability, downtime reduction, water/utilities, and process optimization.
• Spend significant time on the manufacturing floor observing processes, collecting data, and working directly with operators and frontline leadership.
• Use structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis to troubleshoot recurring process issues.
• Develop process capability and performance metrics and create simple tools/dashboards to help teams monitor performance.
• Design and execute trials, document results, and determine whether changes delivered the expected improvement.
• Support equipment and process changes in partnership with Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Controls.
• Build business cases by translating process improvements into measurable operational and financial impact.
• Present project progress, findings, recommendations, and results to plant leadership.
• Develop sustainable standards, documentation, or control plans to ensure improvements are maintained.
