Job summary

Chobani is offering a Process Engineering Intern role in a fast-paced food manufacturing setting. You will work with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and other teams to pinpoint opportunities, analyze performance, and implement improvements.

You’ll own or support projects addressing throughput, yield, and efficiency, while spending substantial time on the manufacturing floor to collect data and validate results.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Chemical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Completion of at least two years of engineering coursework preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working with data; experience with Excel and data visualization/analysis tools preferred.
  • Willingness to spend significant time working in an active manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with operators, frontline leaders, engineers, and other cross-functional partners.
  • Ability to take ownership of a project and move from problem identification → analysis → solution → implementation → validation.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly present technical information and recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with Processing Operations to identify and solve manufacturing losses and constraints.
  • Analyze process data to identify trends, variation, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead or support projects focused on yield/productivity, throughput, reliability, downtime reduction, water/utilities, and process optimization.
  • Spend significant time on the manufacturing floor observing processes, collecting data, and working directly with operators and frontline leadership.
  • Use structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis to troubleshoot recurring process issues.
  • Develop process capability and performance metrics and create simple tools/dashboards to help teams monitor performance.
  • Design and execute trials, document results, and determine whether changes delivered the expected improvement.
  • Support equipment and process changes in partnership with Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Controls.
  • Build business cases by translating process improvements into measurable operational and financial impact.
  • Present project progress, findings, recommendations, and results to plant leadership.
  • Develop sustainable standards, documentation, or control plans to ensure improvements are maintained.

Summary
