Job summary

Capital One seeks an Applied Researcher II to advance AI capabilities across customer experiences in McLean, VA. You will collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products and scalable models.

You will build foundation models, train and evaluate them, and translate research outcomes into business value, leveraging open-source tools and cloud platforms to drive impact at scale.

Qualifications

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, AI or related field by start date or MS with required experience.
• Strong track record in AI/ML research and development.
• Experience building large DL models and deploying AI libraries at scale.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
• Leverage a broad stack (Pytorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, Lightning, VectorDBs) to extract insights.
• Build AI foundation models from design through deployment and evaluation.
• Engage in applied research to push AI into customer experiences.
• Translate complex work into tangible business goals.
