Job summary

Capital One is seeking an Applied Researcher to advance AI foundation models and real-world customer experiences. You will partner with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to design, train, and evaluate large models, applying state-of-the-art methods and open‑source tools in a production setting.

You will lead research projects with cross-team impact, balancing technical excellence with practical business outcomes while operating in a security‑conscious financial services

Qualifications

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, CS, AI, Mathematics or related fields (or MS + 2 years Applied Research).

Responsibilities

• Partner with data scientists, software engineers, ML engineers and PMs to deliver AI-powered products.
• Build AI foundation models from design to training, evaluation, validation and implementation.
• Engage in applied research to push AI developments into customer experiences.
• Translate complex work into tangible business goals with strong communication.
