Job summary

Capital One in New York, NY is seeking an Applied Researcher to join our AI Foundations team, building production-ready AI models and scalable infrastructure for customer experiences. You will partner with data scientists, software engineers and product managers, leveraging PyTorch, AWS Ultraclusters, HuggingFace, and other tools to drive impact across the research life cycle from design to deployment.

Qualifications

  • PhD in CS/EE/AI or MS + 2 years applied research experience.
  • Experience building and deploying large language models.
  • Proven ability to deliver libraries or platform-level code.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, ML engineers and product managers to deliver AI-powered products.
  • Leverage technologies such as PyTorch, AWS Ultraclusters, HuggingFace, Lightning, VectorDBs to extract insights from large data volumes.
  • Build AI foundation models from design through training, evaluation, validation and deployment.
  • Engage in applied research to translate latest AI developments into customer experiences.
  • Translate complex work into tangible business goals.
