Capital One in San Francisco seeks a Sr. Staff Applied Researcher to shape AI foundations and scalable ML platforms powering secure customer experiences.

As an IC leader, you will guide a team, collaborate with data scientists and engineers, and drive research from design through deployment, including training, evaluation, and integration into products. You will work with PyTorch, AWS Ultraclusters, HuggingFace, and VectorDBs to deliver impactful models at scale while reinforcing responsible AI

Qualifications

• Doctorate or master's degree in a related field with extensive applied research experience.
• Strong track record in AI/ML with publications or impactful projects.
• Experience delivering libraries or platform-level code to products.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered platforms and solutions.
• Build AI foundation models through all phases from design to deployment.
• Engage in high-impact applied research and push state-of-the-art into real products.
• Leverage a broad tech stack to derive insights from large numeric and textual data.
• Translate complex work into tangible business goals.
