Job summary

Distyl AI is seeking Research Engineers to bridge frontier AI research with production systems delivering real business value. You will design, prototype, and deploy compound AI systems that operate across enterprise workflows, ensuring reliability and observability.

You will collaborate with AI Researchers and Engineers to harden approaches for production use, integrating agents into customer APIs and data platforms while communicating clearly with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience building AI systems using models, tools, retrieval, planning, memory, or multi-step execution.
• Strong Python engineering skills and ability to debug stateful systems.
• Ability to reason about prompts, tooling, context, evaluators, and external APIs.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and implement agentic AI systems that operate across complex enterprise workflows.
• Build architectures combining planning, tool use, retrieval, memory, evaluation, orchestration, and execution.
• Investigate agent reasoning, coordination, and error recovery in real-world constraints.
• Develop evaluation frameworks to measure agent behavior, reliability, and failure modes.
• Collaborate with AI Researchers and AI Engineers to productionize robust approaches.
• Integrate agents into customer APIs, data platforms, and operational workflows.
• Communicate capabilities, limitations, tradeoffs, and risks to stakeholders.
