Genius AI (HearstLab) is seeking an Engineering Manager, Applied AI to lead a lean team of engineers and deploy AI-driven solutions across the business. You will partner with product, sales, marketing, and other functions to drive measurable go-to-market outcomes and set the standard for AI-native engineering practices.

You’re a strong fit if you have 7+ years of software engineering experience, 2+ years managing engineers while staying hands-on, and a track record of delivering agentic AI

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• 2+ years managing engineers while remaining hands-on in code.
• Experience building and shipping agentic AI systems is a plus.
• Ability to measure AI effectiveness beyond adoption metrics.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a team of engineers, setting AI-native practices.
• Drive GTM outcomes by partnering across Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and People.
• Run weekly sprints, demos, and clean handoffs to keep partners aligned.
• Establish evaluation practices for measurable quality and safe development.
• Select AI models and iterate with frontier models as use cases mature.
• Collaborate with DevEx to codify new standards and documentation.
