Job summary

Oddball is seeking an Applied AI / Machine Learning Engineer to design, build, and deploy AI-powered solutions for real-world problems. The role covers production ML, GenAI workflows, model evaluation, and cross-functional collaboration.

Hybrid/Remote with in-office collaboration in the DMV area (DC, MD, VA). Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and may require federal background checks for certain roles.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in ML concepts including model selection, training, validation and evaluation.
• Experience deploying ML models in real-world applications.
• Proficiency in Python and ML libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn).
• Experience with LLMs, embeddings, and prompt-driven systems.
• Familiarity with data processing tools (Pandas, SQL, Spark).
• Understanding of software engineering practices (version control, testing).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy ML features into production systems.
• Apply supervised, unsupervised, and deep learning to structured and unstructured data.
• Build and evaluate models for classification, ranking, prediction, NLP, or anomaly detection.
• Develop GenAI solutions (LLM workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, agents).
• Translate business needs into ML problem statements, metrics, and experiments.
• Implement data pipelines and feature engineering for training and inference.
• Evaluate model performance, bias, drift, and reliability; iterate as needed.
• Collaborate with software engineers to integrate models into APIs and services.
• Contribute to architecture decisions around model serving, scalability, and cost.
• Document approaches, assumptions, and tradeoffs for maintainability.
