Job summary

Mission Underwriting Services is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to design, implement, and scale enterprise AI capabilities across underwriting, operations, finance, and HR. You will work on production-ready AI applications, agentic workflows, and integration of LLMs with enterprise systems.

The role emphasizes collaboration across technology and business teams, building secure and scalable AI solutions, and applying modern AI engineering practices to solve complex business challenges at scale.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in software/AI engineering or similar
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, AI agents, and orchestration frameworks
• Experience deploying AI features on cloud-native platforms
• Strong programming skills in Python or JavaScript; REST APIs and microservices
• Experience integrating AI with enterprise systems via APIs and data stores
• Familiarity with AI evaluation, monitoring, and observability practices
• Understanding of Responsible AI, security, governance, and compliance
• Experience with DevOps/MLOps, CI/CD, and IaC tools
• Experience with Databricks, SQL Server or similar data platforms
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy production-grade AI solutions using LLMs and agents
• Create intelligent workflows and AI-powered applications across underwriting and operations
• Develop scalable AI services with cloud-native architectures
• Integrate AI with policy administration, data platforms, and document management
• Implement prompt engineering, orchestration, vector databases, and retrieval solutions
• Evaluate and fine-tune models for cost, latency, and reliability
• Build evaluation and monitoring frameworks for AI systems
• Establish guardrails, governance, and responsible AI practices
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate requirements
• Build AI components and frameworks for rapid enterprise delivery
• Utilize tools like Copilot, Claude, Codex to accelerate development
• Develop and maintain dashboards and data pipelines in Databricks/MongoDB
• Optimize AI infrastructure and inference pipelines for availability
• Stay updated on AI tech and suggest new capabilities
• Provide on-call support and continuous improvement of AI systems
