Job summary

Rocket Money, located in San Francisco, is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to develop and operate the Capabilities Engine, the core platform enabling agentic behavior across the company’s AI-powered experiences. You will design reusable capabilities, collaborate with method owners across channels, and help teams ship durable systems with clear contracts, observability, and safety considerations.

Qualifications

• Experience building production LLM applications and agentic systems.
• Experience with tool calling, workflow orchestration, or AI-powered products.
• Experience designing capability platforms or shared services.
• Experience with TypeScript, Node, GraphQL, Postgres in LLM apps.
• Experience with evaluation and observability for probabilistic behavior.

Responsibilities

• Build, evolve, and operate the Capabilities Engine as a core platform for agentic product behavior.
• Design abstractions that make capabilities easy for agents and methods to discover, invoke, compose, observe, and improve.
• Partner with method owners across all contact method subagents as well as supporting agents to integrate with the Capabilities Engine.
• Mentor and grow engineers across the Agents Group and drive technical direction.
• Document system behavior, capability contracts, and operational expectations to enable cross-team collaboration.
