Job summary

Penguin Random House is seeking a Developer, Applied AI to join our Global Data Solutions team. We are looking for a hands‑on developer who can help build, maintain, and enhance secure, reliable AI‑enabled applications that improve how internal business teams access, process, and use enterprise data.

This role sits at the intersection of Python backend engineering, Azure cloud services, enterprise data integration, document processing, and practical AI implementation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in professional software development with Python.
• Experience building production apps in cloud environments, preferably Azure.
• Developed REST APIs and backend services with FastAPI/Flask or similar.
• Applied generative AI/LangChain concepts in real apps.
• Familiar with AI patterns: retrieval workflows, document processing, structured outputs.
• Used Azure services in production: Functions, OpenAI, Blob storage, etc.
• Familiar with Git-based workflows, CI/CD, and deployment automation.
• Strong SQL and data access experience; able to work with enterprise data.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain AI-enabled applications for internal teams.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and propose practical technical approaches.
• Build, test, and deploy production-grade software with security and reliability.
• Support deployments and monitor production systems to troubleshoot issues.
• Learn new technologies quickly and apply them to business problems.
