Job summary

Penguin Random House seeks a Senior AI Solutions Engineer to build and operate LLM-powered systems that enhance publishing workflows. You’ll connect AI models to internal data via MCP servers and own end-to-end service delivery in our AWS/Databricks stack.

The role requires 3+ years building production AI software, deep ML tooling knowledge, and strong Python engineering skills. Remote-friendly, with competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building and shipping production-quality software with hands-on ML/AI systems
• Experience standing up MCP servers or comparable tool-integration layers for AI assistants
• Experience with cloud ML platforms (AWS, Databricks), model APIs (Bedrock, Anthropic, OpenAI), and vector databases
• Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in computer science, machine learning, or related field
• Experience applying AI/ML to commercial problems such as demand forecasting, pricing, sales/marketing optimization, recommendation, or search
• Background in media, publishing, or other content-rich domains
• Fluency with the current LLM stack: retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, prompt engineering, agentic patterns, and evaluation of generative systems
• Strong Python engineering skills with version control, testing, and CI
• Self-motivated with strong communication skills and ability to teach teammates

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate LLM-powered applications and services over catalog, sales, and operational data
• Stand up and maintain MCP servers and tool integrations that connect AI models to internal data
• Own services end-to-end: architecture, implementation, deployment, evaluation, and monitoring in AWS/Databricks
• Evaluate emerging AI tooling and patterns, run pilots, and drive adoption of effective solutions
• Raise AI engineering capability through working sessions, demos, and peer programming with scientists
