Job summary

Simbe is seeking a Computer Vision / Applied AI Intern to join the team building and improving CV systems that turn imagery collected by our autonomous robots into actionable retail intelligence.

This internship offers hands-on experience applying CV/ML to real-world data and production systems, with a defined project, mentorship, and opportunities to collaborate across CV, ML, Data, and Robot Software teams.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS/MS/PhD in CS/Robotics or related field.
• Final-year students or strong juniors considered.
• Strong Python skills with data structures and software dev practices.
• Coursework or hands-on CV/ML experience required.
• Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar frameworks.
• Experience with structured Python projects beyond notebooks.
• Familiarity with Git or other VCS.
• Comfort with data to evaluate results and support decisions.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Own and contribute to a scoped project aligned with CV/Applied AI priorities during internship.
• Develop, test, and evaluate CV/ML solutions using Python and modern ML frameworks.
• Work with production image datasets and identify patterns, failure modes, opportunities for improvement.
• Contribute to object detection, OCR, barcode decoding, segmentation, dataset curation, or model evaluation as needed.
• Build or improve tools for dataset analysis, model evaluation, experiments, or production workflows.
• Write maintainable code and contribute tests where appropriate.
• Communicate progress, decisions, challenges, and results clearly.
• Collaborate across CV, Applied AI, Data, Robot Software, and other teams.
• Present your project, approach, and learnings at program end.
