We currently have an opening for an Applications Systems Specialist.
The primary responsibility of the Applications Systems Specialist I is to analyze, design, code, test, and implement complex and advanced computer application systems, as well as maintain existing systems in the Traffic Records Systems (TRS) unit.
The primary purpose of the Traffic Records Systems (TRS) unit of Information Technology is to provide the full range of information technology processing services and support for the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) – Traffic Records section and the Division of Highways (DOH) -Traffic Safety Systems Section in the North Carolina Department of Transportation. TRS consists of 6 complex applications related to motor vehicle crashes and crash analysis and utilizes multiple technologies. It interfaces with various internal and external applications. The TRS unit’s work is driven by modifications, re-engineering, legislative mandates, organizational and technological changes.
Note: Selected candidate must reside in North Carolina at the time of hire.
The N.C. Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) serves as the Technology Center for the State of NC. It provides services to state and local government agencies, educational institutions, and promotes digital inclusion through broadband expansion and high-speed internet adoption. Applicants must demonstrate experience in application analysis and design, problem interpretation, meeting deadlines, and developing or troubleshooting applications using technologies like .NET/C#/ASP .Net Core, SQL Server, HTML5/CSS, JavaScript, REST APIs, and GIT/Azure DevOps. Preferred skills include experience with ASP.Net MVC, Dapper, Entity Framework, and testing frameworks such as nUnit or MSTest.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field with four years of experience, or an associate degree with five years, or a high school diploma with eight years of experience in business application consulting or development. Equivalent combinations are also acceptable.
