Apps Support Engineering Sr Manager - API Support (VP)

The Support Engineering Sr Manager is an experienced technologist proficient in incident management and engineering, with a background in onboarding engineering and institutional clients. This role is an individual contributor and requires expertise in application performance monitoring tools like AppDynamics, Splunk, and Kibana, supporting applications built using Java, J2EE, Spring Boot, MongoDB, Oracle, and deployed on AWS Cloud and OpenShift container platform. Extensive triaging and production resolution skills are essential, along with scripting knowledge. The candidate must adhere to Citi's Policy, demonstrating sound ethical judgment and escalating control issues with transparency. This role also involves supervising and managing the performance of team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Onboard engineering and institutional clients, providing technical guidance and support.

  • Manage incidents and provide effective production support for applications utilizing Java, J2EE, Spring Boot, MongoDB, Oracle, AWS Cloud, and OpenShift.

  • Utilize monitoring tools such as AppDynamics, Splunk, and Kibana to identify, triage, and resolve performance issues.

  • Apply scripting skills for automation and problem-solving.

  • Adhere to Citi's Policy and demonstrate sound ethical judgment in all actions.

  • Supervise and manage the performance of team members, creating accountability.

  • Escalate, manage, and report control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of API design standards, patterns, and best-practices.

  • Ability to formulate and implement a framework for managing capacity, throughput, and latency.

  • In-depth understanding of how application support integrates within the overall technology function.

  • Knowledge of the financial industry.

  • Experience in Portal management and/or API Gateway management.

  • Ability to manage a globally distributed team across different time zones.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to engage and lead discussions effectively.

  • 8+ years of experience in an Apps Support role is preferred but not required.

  • Effective information sharing within the team and across other technology teams.

  • Strong planning and organizational skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate appropriately with relevant stakeholders.
