Job summary

Schmalz is seeking a Manager, Applications Engineering for Handling Systems to lead the team that supports customers, distributors and the sales force with technically sound solutions.

The role emphasizes people leadership, curiosity, adaptability and a strong customer focus in a fast-paced engineering environment. Initial onsite training with a path to a hybrid schedule is available, with 4–5 days in the office per week required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology or related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Minimum seven years in applications engineering, industrial automation or capital equipment.
• Experience leading teams and coaching employees; prior management preferred.
• Ability to evaluate complex technical applications and guide safe, viable solutions.
• Strong customer-facing communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Experience managing workload, priorities and metrics in deadlines-driven environments.
• Willingness to travel domestically ~15% and some international travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the Handling Systems, Applications Engineering team.
• Ensure responsive, accurate, and technically sound support for customers, distributors and the sales organization.
• Develop and implement processes to improve performance, quality and delivery.
