Job summary

Venda Search is seeking a Sr. Applications Engineering Leader to guide a team of applications engineers, helping customers select and implement technical solutions while supporting sales.

You’ll streamline the applications, quoting and technical sales processes and travel up to 20% for customer meetings and events. This role emphasizes developing people, solving technical challenges and impacting customer experience and business results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; technical degree preferred.
• 5+ years of relevant applications engineering experience.
• 1+ year of direct team leadership experience.
• Customer-facing experience within a sales environment.
• Proven ability to improve operational processes and reduce cycle times.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop the applications engineering team.
• Oversee technical solutions supporting deployments within customer environments.
• Own and improve end-to-end quoting and applications workflows.
• Reduce quote turnaround times while maintaining accuracy and quality.
• Develop standardized processes, templates and tools for consistency and scale.
• Collaborate with sales, engineering, operations and product management to remove bottlenecks.
• Incorporate customer requirements and market insights to shape future solutions.
• Champion lean practices and automation across the department.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You’ll lead the applications engineering team, helping customers select and implement technical solutions while supporting sales and building long-term customer trust.

A central part of the role is improving how the department operates. You’ll evaluate the applications engineering, quoting and technical sales processes, identify bottlenecks and introduce better ways of working.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys developing people, staying close to technical challenges and seeing their work influence customer experience and commercial performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead, coach and develop a team of applications engineers.
• Oversee technical solutions supporting the deployment, adoption and expansion of products within customer environments.
• Own and continuously improve the end-to-end quoting and applications engineering workflow.
• Reduce quote turnaround times while maintaining technical accuracy and quality.
• Develop standardized processes, templates and engineering tools to improve consistency and support scale.
• Work across sales, engineering, operations and product management to resolve bottlenecks and improve responsiveness.
• Use customer requirements and market insight to help shape future technical solutions.
• Champion lean practices, continuous improvement and automation across the department.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED

• A bachelor’s degree; a technical degree is preferred.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience.
• At least 1 year of experience directly managing a team.
• Demonstrated experience working in a sales organization in a customer-facing capacity.
• A track record of improving operational processes, reducing cycle times and increasing efficiency.
• The ability to connect customer requirements with appropriate technical solutions and communicate effectively across teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% for customer meetings, trade shows and conferences.
• Experience with mission-critical energy storage, power conversion, low-voltage AC/DC distribution, batteries or technical leadership would be particularly valuable.
