Job summary

American Power Innovations is seeking an Applications Engineer to develop detailed cost estimates for electrical building projects, supporting data center expansions and infrastructure upgrades.

The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of electrical systems, budgeting, procurement, and vendor negotiations. This role is office-based with potential remote work and regular coordination with the Tulsa team to ensure bid accuracy and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 3–5 years of cost estimation experience in data center, mission-critical, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, controls, and power distribution equipment.
• Experience with estimating software and tools.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Develop cost estimates for electrical building projects, including expansions and upgrades.
• Analyze project requirements, drawings, and specifications to determine scope, materials, and labor needs.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management to refine cost projections and ensure accuracy.
• Source and evaluate pricing from vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness.
• Identify cost risks and recommend value engineering solutions.
• Prepare and present cost estimates to stakeholders, including senior management and clients.
• Maintain up-to-date database of costs, trends, and market conditions relevant to each market.
• Assist in the development of bid proposals, contract negotiations, and procurement strategies.
• Work with CRM software to manage quote timelines and data.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies throughout the estimation process.
