The company is a designer and manufacturer of advanced battery and energy systems for defense, industrial, commercial, marine and autonomous platforms, which develops purpose-built solutions that integrate battery technology, electronics, embedded software, thermal management and mechanical engineering to meet demanding application requirements.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a hands‑on Applications Engineer who can understand a customer’s

platform, define what its power system must deliver and help turn those requirements into a

working solution.

You will serve as a technical connection between customers and our engineering team, supporting projects from early discovery and feasibility through prototype integration, validation and customer trials.

This role combines customer interaction with practical engineering. You should be comfortable leading a technical requirements discussion, evaluating battery‑system configurations, reviewing electrical interfaces and working at the bench to troubleshoot hardware. You will collaborate with electrical, mechanical, firmware and manufacturing specialists while maintaining a clear view of how the complete system must perform in the customer’s application.

What You Will Do

Understand the customer’s application:

• Lead technical discovery with customer engineering teams to understand platform requirements, operating conditions and integration constraints.
• Define voltage, continuous and peak current, power, energy, runtime, duty cycle and charging requirements.
• Capture mechanical interfaces, communications, environmental conditions, safety requirements and expected operating life.
• Turn incomplete or ambiguous requests into documented requirements, assumptions and measurable acceptance criteria.
• Identify technical risks and explain practical trade-offs in performance, size, weight, cost and

Develop the technical solution:

• Evaluate suitable battery and power-system configurations with our engineering team.
• Contribute to system architecture, component selection and interface definitions covering cells, BMS, charging, protection, sensing, connectors and communications.
• Prepare application specifications, interface documentation, system diagrams and technical inputs for proposals and statements of work.
• Review proposed requirements with Engineering, Operations, Quality and Commercial to establish feasibility before customer commitments are made.
• Assess requirement changes and communicate their implications for design, testing, cost and schedule.

Integrate, test and troubleshoot:

• Work alongside engineers and technicians to integrate prototype battery systems with customer equipment.
• Support electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs and prototype modifications.
• Diagnose issues across wiring, power distribution, BMS hardware, control electronics, communications and hardware/firmware interfaces.
• Use oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads and other laboratory equipment to investigate system behavior.
• Develop and execute application‑level test procedures that demonstrate performance against agreed requirements.
• Document results, track technical issues and coordinate their resolution with the responsible engineering specialists.
• Perform electrical work within established safety procedures and training requirements.

Support customer adoption and production readiness:

• Provide technical support during customer evaluations, integration activities, commissioning and field trials.
• Communicate findings, limitations and recommended actions clearly to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Translate customer feedback into actionable engineering requirements.
• Support the transition from prototype to production through clear documentation, test requirements and lessons learned.
• Help develop repeatable application guidance, integration instructions and troubleshooting methods.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant engineering experience.
• Professional experience in applications engineering, electrical or electronic product development, systems integration, battery systems or a closely related field.
• Strong understanding of DC electrical systems, power requirements, protection devices and electrical interfaces.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, component specifications and

• Proficiency with common electrical and electronic laboratory equipment.
• Ability to translate customer operating needs into clear engineering requirements and verification criteria.
• Strong technical communication skills and the ability to establish credibility with customer engineers.
• A methodical approach to problem‑solving, documentation and issue resolution.
• Sound judgment about when to investigate independently and when to involve a technical specialist.

Preferred Experience:

• Custom battery packs, rechargeable battery technologies or Battery Management Systems.
• Low- and high-voltage DC systems, including contactors, pre-charge circuits, fusing and isolation.
• CAN bus, CANopen or other embedded and industrial communications protocols.
• Battery charging, power conversion or power electronics.
• Embedded firmware, microcontrollers or C/C++ sufficient to support integration and troubleshooting.
• Environmental, endurance or performance testing.
• Defense, robotics, autonomous systems, aerospace, marine or industrial equipment.
• Technical proposals, statements of work and customer acceptance testing.
