Job summary

Ampco Pumps Co Inc in Wisconsin is seeking an Applications Engineer to join our team, collaborating with customers and internal colleagues to support quoting and sizing of fluid handling equipment.

You will provide technical expertise, generate accurate quotes, and act as a resource for end users, distributors, and the sales team. The role requires a mechanical engineering background and 1–3 years of related experience; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 1–3 years of related experience in applications or sales support.
  • Experience with fluid handling equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of fluid handling equipment.
  • Generate accurate quotes based on customer requirements.
  • Communicate with customers to clarify details and inquiries.
  • Serve as a technical resource for end users, distributors, and sales.
  • Troubleshoot issues and advise best practices.
  • Adhere to quality and safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Ampco Pumps is a fast-growing manufacturer of centrifugal and positive displacement pumps used in the food and dairy industries, desalination, and various chemical and industrial applications.

We are seeking a dedicated Applications Engineer to join our team, collaborating closely with both customers and internal colleagues to facilitate the quoting and sizing process for a range of fluid handling equipment. As an integral part of our team, you will play a key role in providing technical expertise and solutions that meet our customers' specific needs.

Duties/Responsibilities
  1. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of fluid handling equipment which we manufacture.
  2. Generate accurate and detailed quotes for customers based on their specific requirements.
  3. Communicate effectively with customers to clarify details and address any inquiries related to the quotes.
  4. Act as a technical resource for end users, distributors, and sales team.
  5. Assist end users and distributors by troubleshooting issues and advising best practices.
  6. Follow all housekeeping procedures and comply with all quality and safety regulations.
  7. Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
  • Strong organizational aptitude and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with technical and non-technical co-workers and collaborate in a team environment consisting of cross functional disciplines.
  • Problem solving skills for determining solutions when problems arise.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task, while maintaining deadlines.
  • Comfortable communicating with customers over the phone and in-person on a regular basis.
Preferred Skills
  • Prior experience with positive displacement pumps, centrifugal pumps
  • Familiarity with the principles of centrifugal and positive displacement pumps
  • Experience quoting out of an ERP system (SAP, WorkWise)
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • 1-3 years related experience
