Job summary

Ampco Pumps Co Inc is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-op to support engineers in developing and refining pump product designs. You will create CAD models, perform basic calculations, document designs, and assist in prototype builds with exposure to design reviews.

The role emphasizes hands-on experience in product design, CAD modeling, and engineering solutions, with a requirement to complete three terms (Spring/Fall preferred) and two consecutive terms with only one back-to-back term

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, junior standing or higher.
• Basic CAD knowledge and SolidWorks preferred.
• Experience with design documentation and prototyping is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design positive displacement, centrifugal, and twin-screw pump products for new product development and existing orders.
• Maintain/improve designs of standard products to increase quality and productivity while reducing costs.
• Support prototyping, testing, and validation activities.
• Create or review product documentation.
• Collaborate with operations to address design and assembly problems.
• Follow housekeeping procedures and comply with quality and safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

We believe in fostering talent and creativity, and we are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering Co-Op to join our dynamic team. The Mechanical Engineering Co-op supports engineers in developing and refining product or system designs. Responsibilities include creating CAD models and drawings, performing basic engineering calculations, preparing documentation, supporting prototype builds, and participating in design reviews. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the world of product design, CAD modeling, and engineering solutions.

This co-op position requires completion of three working terms. While students may complete two consecutive terms, only one back to back term is allowed during their co-op experience. The program is not designed for Summer-only participation. To meet program requirements, students must complete at least one Spring or Fall term in addition to any Summer term(s).

Duties/Responsibilities

• Design positive displacement, centrifugal, and twin-screw pump products for new product development and existing product customer orders.
• Maintain/improve designs of standard products, improving quality and productivity, while reducing costs.
• Support prototyping, testing, and validation activities.
• Create or review product documentation.
• Work with operations to address and resolve design and assembly problems.
• Follow all housekeeping procedures and comply with all quality and safety regulations.
• Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move drawing, files, parts, components, and manuals weighing up to 25 pounds.

Education/Experience

• Currently pursuing Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• Must be of junior standing or higher.
