Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• 3+ years in an application engineering, technical support, or solutions engineering role.
• Strong understanding of system integration, APIs, and application design principles.
• Proficiency with Python, C++, JavaScript, MATLAB, CAD, or related tools.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the full lifecycle of application and AI solution development.

Overview

Applications Engineer serves as the technical bridge between customers, sales, product development, and operations teams. This role is responsible for delivering tailored solutions that fit the eco system between business and technical needs through a combination of strong technical proficiency and excellent communication and problem-solving skills. The Applications Engineer will need to understand complex requirements to customize tools or solutions as well as to provide technical support during pre- and post-sales phases to ensure successful deployment and performance of company products in customer environments. This position sits within Distribution Engineering Solutions (IDS), interfaces closely with Product and Solutions Design Teams, IT, and DSIT, and reports to the Manager, Applications & AI Engineering.

Responsibilities

Product Management

• Oversee the full lifecycle of application and AI solution development:
  • Gather and understand complex business requirements.
  • Design and configure architecture to support requirements.
  • Test software or hardware applications to meet customer specifications.
  • Deploy, optimize, and maintain solution.
• Collaborate with high functioning teams across the business spectrum to evaluate customer needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Facilitate technical presentations and product demonstrations during the sales process.
• Provide application support before, during, and after during the sales phase.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for technical inquiries from customers and internal stakeholders.
• Conduct product training sessions for customers, partners, and internal teams.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during deployment and operational phases.

Documentation

• Utilize NFI’s document management system (PolicyTech/Navex/Lucid) to document requirements, configurations, and application workflows for internal and external use.
• Ensure all new document releases follow the proper version control and approval processes.

Continuous Improvement

• Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and competitor offerings.
• Enhance code quality, performance, and engineering efficiencies.
• Contribute feedback to product development teams to inform roadmap and feature enhancements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Computer Science, or related field).
• Master’s degree preferred, but not required.
• 3+ years of experience in an application engineering, technical support, or solutions engineering role.
• Strong understanding of system integration, APIs, and application design principles.
• Proficiency with relevant tools or programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, JavaScript, MATLAB, CAD, etc.).
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
• Customer-focused mindset with demonstrated ability to translate technical details into business value.
• Hybrid based with occasional travel to home offices, customer sites, trade shows, or training events (up to 25%).
