Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries is seeking an Application Developer to join our IT team and deliver business-ready applications on the IBM i (Power Systems) platform. The role emphasizes designing, building, and maintaining solutions that meet evolving business needs, with collaboration across users and support staff.

The ideal candidate has RPG IV/ILE RPG experience, solid SQL knowledge, and a disciplined, results-driven work style.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field OR three years of professional experience in application development
  • Working experience with RPG IV / ILE RPG in a business environment is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and database concepts

  • Results-oriented with urgency to achieve efficient and accurate results

Responsibilities

  • Analyze business requirements then design, create and maintain applications using modern RPG and development tools on the IBM i (Power Systems) platform
  • Utilize technology to solve problems and build software solutions with varying degrees of complexity
  • Collaborate with users to identify improvements that enable them to excel at their job
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to application functionality
  • Drive to completion all phases of application development
  • Take initiative to analyze problems, gather input from users and team members, evaluate options, and recommend practical ideas that improve applications and business processes
  • Effectively communicate and present technical information and solutions to a variety of audiences
  • Train and directly support users and/or technical support staff

This position is not remote and requires living in the commutable Red Bluff, California or Medford, Wisconsin area. The successful applicant requires current authorization to work in the United States as Sierra Pacific does not provide a Visa sponsorship.

The general wage range for this position at Sierra Pacific Industries is from $65,000 and $120,000 per year, and is dependent upon a number of factors, including, but not limited to: relevant work experience, skill, knowledge, and/or education.
