Job Summary

The Applications Analyst III is a senior-level position within the IT department, responsible for overseeing the management, support, and optimization of critical software applications across the organization. This role includes advanced troubleshooting, strategic planning, and project leadership to ensure applications align with organizational goals and performance standards. As a key technical expert, the Applications Analyst III leads major projects, mentors junior team members, and serves as a primary liaison between IT and business stakeholders to deliver innovative and efficient solutions.

Essential Functions
  • Provides senior-level support for resolving complex application issues that cannot be addressed by junior analysts, performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence and escalating issues to vendors or developers when necessary.
  • Leads the design, development, testing, and implementation of major application enhancements and integrations to optimize system performance and align with business objectives.
  • Manages large-scale projects, such as system upgrades, new implementations, or enterprise-wide integrations, ensuring timelines, budgets, and resources are effectively managed.
  • Collaborates with developers, database administrators, and IT staff to maintain optimal application performance, security, and reliability across the organization.
  • Analyzes current application usage and identifies opportunities for improvement, recommending new features or solutions to enhance functionality and efficiency.
  • Acts as a primary point of contact between IT and business stakeholders, gathering and translating detailed business requirements into technical specifications that support strategic initiatives.
  • Develops, documents, and enforces application-related policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
  • Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation of application configurations, workflows, and troubleshooting processes for knowledge sharing and audit purposes.
  • Conducts training sessions for IT staff and end-users to enhance their understanding and utilization of applications, serving as a subject matter expert (SME) for specific systems or technologies.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to junior analysts, fostering professional development and ensuring consistent application support across the team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required or
  • A combination of education and progressive experience in application support or analysis may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 4-6 years of experience in application support, development, or systems analysis, with at least two (2) years working in a healthcare setting required
  • 2-4 years of experience managing large-scale IT projects or leading cross-functional teams required
  • Expertise in HL7 messaging standards, interface engine tools, and enterprise-level applications required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of large-scale application systems and enterprise software, including but not limited to, ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior staff and foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong decision-making skills, especially in high-stakes situations like system outages or critical upgrades.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaboration across departments, including but not limited to, vendors, and external partners.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to lead multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Deep knowledge of application management, database structures, system integration, and performance optimization.
  • Proven abilities in scripting, automation, and use of advanced tools to monitor and maintain applications.
  • Familiarity with APIs, web services, cloud environments, and software architecture patterns.
  • Proven ability in troubleshooting complex issues and performing root cause analysis.
  • Ability to analyze data, logs, and system behavior to optimize application performance.
Licenses and Certifications
  • ITIL Foundations v3 (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) certification for IT service management preferred
  • Certified Data Integration Developer-SAS or similar certification for Programming and Data integration preferred
