Job summary

Zurich Instruments is seeking an Application Scientist to join our Boston team. You will apply your technical expertise to solve new challenges and contribute to the success of our fast-growing company, transitioning from academia to a dynamic industry environment.

In this role, you will provide expert UI/tying support, perform system integration and trainings, and collaborate with global teams to turn customer feedback into product improvements while developing your commercial skills.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related experimental science with hands-on lab experience.
• Experience with dynamic signal measurement, e.g., lock-in detection, impedance spectroscopy, waveform generation is a plus.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to academic and industrial audiences.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert application support to customers across the US with Zurich Instruments T&M instruments.
• Conduct onsite system integration, demos, and training at client laboratories.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships to support sales growth and retention.
• Represent Zurich Instruments at trade shows, conferences, and academic events in the US.
• Collaborate with global sales and product teams to relay customer feedback and insights.
• Produce technical content including application notes, presentations, product documentation, and demo videos.
• Develop commercial skills in a role blending deep technical work with customer impact.

• Provide expert application support to customers across the US working with ZI's T&M instruments (lock-in amplifiers, impedance analyzers, AWGs)
• Conduct onsite system integration, demos, and training at customer laboratories
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships to support sales growth and customer retention
• Represent Zurich Instruments at trade shows, conferences, and academic events across the US
• Collaborate with the global sales and product teams to relay customer feedback and application insights
• Produce technical content including application notes, presentations, product documentation, and demo videos
• Actively develop your commercial skills in a role that blends deep technical work with customer-facing impact

• PhD or Master's in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related experimental science with hands-on lab experience
• Solid practical experience with dynamic signal measurement — familiarity with lock-in detection, impedance spectroscopy, or waveform generation is a strong plus
• Comfortable with scientific programming, ideally Python, for instrument control and data analysis
• Strong communicator who can explain complex technical concepts clearly to both academic and industrial audiences
• Customer-oriented mindset with a genuine interest in building relationships and developing commercial skills
• Self-driven, proactive, and comfortable working independently across a large territory
