Overview

Major Talent is partnered with a global food ingredients manufacturer with facilities across Asia, America and Europe. They are looking for an Application Scientist to join the team based in St Louis, Missouri.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical solutions for customer-driven and marketing-driven food and beverage projects, from bench-top through pilot and commercial-scale production. This includes hands-on work in laboratory, pilot plant, and manufacturing environments.
• Provide technical and application support to customers, leveraging development learnings to accelerate customer timelines and improve project outcomes.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with technical stakeholders at key customer accounts by delivering exceptional service and value-added solutions.
• Collaborate with management to continuously improve technical sales support and internal customer support processes.
• Manage and resolve strategic and sensitive technical issues, ensuring all assigned projects meet defined technical and customer requirements.
• Partner with Marketing to support trade shows and promotional activities through technical expertise, prototype development, and product displays.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the application team by enhancing technical expertise, scientific rigor, and standardized processes.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the chemistry and functionality of food ingredients used in color formulations, while staying current on food and beverage industry trends.
• Deliver technical training and knowledge transfer to internal teams and external customers as needed.

Experience required to be an Application Scientist

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related area
• Experience with color/ingredient applications, customer presentations, program/system planning, statistical reporting/analysis and cost/benefit analysis preferred.
• In-depth understanding and practical experience with production/manufacturing are preferred.
• Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to work on cross-functional projects alone and as part of a team is critical.
• Work requires excellent written, verbal and group presentation communication skills.
