Job summary

Tyler Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Cloud Observability Architect to lead the transformation of how we measure, monitor, and improve the health of our cloud and SaaS platforms.

You will drive an application-first observability program, spanning APM, distributed tracing, logging, metrics, and telemetry across services. Qualifications

  • 10+ years of SRE/DevOps/Platform/Observability/Cloud/Systems Eng roles.
  • 3+ years architecting enterprise-scale observability solutions.
  • Experience leading transformation initiatives across multiple teams.
  • Deep understanding of APM, tracing, logging, metrics, telemetry pipelines, SRE.
  • Experience defining SLIs, SLOs, reliability metrics and frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures and microservices.
  • Experience operating within governance, security, compliance & change management.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management with executives.
  • Ability to work within regulated environments (PCI, CJIS, SSAE).

Responsibilities

  • Lead transformation of observability strategy with an application-first focus.
  • Define and evolve the enterprise observability architecture and telemetry patterns.
  • Develop platform strategy consolidating tooling and reducing complexity.
  • Serve as SME to engineering, product, SRE, Cloud Ops, FinOps, governance, and execs.
  • Evaluate and guide implementation of observability tech and best practices.
  • Drive transition to modern observability with APM, tracing, metrics, logs.
  • Establish governance, standards, and policies for observability.
  • Define SLIs/SLOs and reliability frameworks to support commitments.
  • Govern telemetry collection, retention, alerts, and incident detection.
  • Collaborate with FinOps to optimize telemetry costs.
  • Build communities of practice and manage vendor relationships.
  • Analyze telemetry to identify reliability and cost opportunities.
  • Influence technical direction across stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Own enterprise technologies and promote long-term evolution.
  • Communicate complex concepts to technical and executive audiences.
