Duties
LER Product Design, LLC seeks an Application Engineer - Restraints in Columbus, Indiana, and various unanticipated worksites throughout the U.S. Telecommuting permitted 1 day/week. Duties: design, develop, validate, and release restraints system commodities, subsystems, and components for assigned programs (commodities include seatbelts, airbags, steering wheels, buckles, and height adjusters); monitor the development of interior trim and other interfacing components for vehicles according to company-specific benchmarks; design parts to comply with corporate, regulatory and local requirements for parts validation, considering worldwide customers' requirements, engineering specifications, systems design specifications, and manufacturing and assembly requirements; translate customer, regulatory, and product requirements into engineering targets; monitor suppliers and analyze customer feedback through client's systems; incorporate new designs and engineering changes at assembly plants and lead discussions with involved parties, including suppliers; support suppliers and assembly departments with production quality and manufacturing issues; support production part approval processes (PPAP) for mass production.
Requirements
Master's degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in mechanical engineering, or related field, and one year of experience in a product engineering or related position. Must have one year of experience in all the following: restraints system development and validation testing; FMVSS; NCAP; DFMEA; AutoCAD; system-level sled testing.
In lieu of master's degree and one year of experience, will accept a bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in mechanical engineering, or related field, and three years of experience in a product engineering or related position that includes the skills listed above.
