Job summary

igus Inc. in Rumford, RI is seeking an Application Engineer to design and configure readychain and readycable energy chain systems tailored to each application. You will coordinate multiple projects, lead process improvements, and support sales with technical inputs.

You will negotiate, introduce new products, and collaborate with manufacturing and customer support to reduce costs and improve technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Knowledge of wire harnessing processes and industry standards.
• Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
• Self-starter, motivated, team focused and results driven.
• Familiar with best manufacturing and assembly practices.
• Familiar with Item Master and Bill of Materials.
• Understanding of engineering change orders, product development and value engineering.
• Strong product technology, problem solving and customer orientation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with configuration and design of readychain® and readycable® products.
• Review customer drawings to identify cost-effective manufacturing approaches.
• Coordinate with electronics and material suppliers and internal sales for quotes.
• Calculate material and labor costs, tooling and test requirements for quotations.
• Develop and document assembly drawings and manufacturing processes.
• Coordinate with New Product Introduction, First Article builds and inspections.
• Communicate with sales/customers to ensure technical needs are met.
• Resolve product quality issues with quality, sales or customers.
• Provide manufacturing support by addressing technical issues.
• Collaborate with Process Engineering for continuous improvement of techniques.
• Coordinate Engineering Change Orders and Documentation Changes with Operations teams.
