Job description

US Valve is seeking a proactive and technically skilled Valves and Flow Control Applications Engineer to join our Engineering team. We manufacture high-performance check valves assembled in our Linthicum, MD facility, serving critical applications across industrial, commercial, and specialty markets.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with sales team for valve sizing & selection based on process conditions, materials, performance & customer specifications.
  • Review datasheets, P&IDs, drawings and engineering specifications to identify correct valve configuration.
  • Recommend materials (metals, seat materials, elastomers) to match service conditions.
  • Use internal tools, sizing calculators, ERP configurators, and engineering software to predict performance and highlight concerns.
  • Develop and improve sizing tools, application guides, and installation/operation manuals.
  • Review regulatory requirements, including domestic content, and provide guidance to the sales team on sourcing, cost, execution.
  • Serve as technical contact for customers & channel partners: gather application details, answer questions, recommend solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver cut sheets, technical documentation and product recommendations.
  • Provide troubleshooting support, cost-effective solutions, clear communication to customers.
  • Perform root cause analysis on field failures with product & quality engineers; communicate results to stakeholders.
  • Review special or complex incoming orders for accuracy and requirement alignment.
  • Create routings, item records, quality alerts, work instructions for special projects.
  • Create/update Bills of Material, Engineering Change Requests, Engineering Change Notices.
  • Maintain quality initiatives: accurate information, compliant documentation, customer complaint tracking.
  • Collaborate with design engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, project teams for product development & order execution.
  • Communicate customer needs to design engineers for custom solutions.
  • Assist sales & marketing with technical content, demonstrations, training materials.
Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of valve principles, flow characteristics, and Cv calculations.
  • Familiarity with industry standards: ASME, API, NACE, CE or PED requirements.
  • Ability to read P&IDs, interpret datasheets, analyze mechanical and process information.
  • Strong communication skills for working with customers, distributors, engineers, and internal teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Experience with 3D modeling software and ERP systems (preferred).
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Three to seven years experience in valves, fluid control equipment, instrumentation or similar industry.
  • Experience with safety relief valves, control valves or specialized flow‑control equipment is preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Move around, use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
  • Occasional lifting up to 35 lbs.
  • Vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, focus adjustment.
Work Environment
  • Office and shop floor environment.
  • Minimal noise level with occasional spikes.
  • Required to wear safety glasses and use safety equipment on shop floor.
  • Occasional travel to customer or distributor locations for support or training may be required.

Total Rewards

Compensation range: $97,000.00 - $145,400.00, depending on experience. Position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
