Job summary

A leader in valve manufacturing is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to provide design support and manage engineering activities for valve products. The ideal candidate will have a BS in Mechanical Engineering, 5-8 years of experience with engineered valves, and strong skills in problem-solving and project management. Responsibilities include technical support for sales, ensuring documentation accuracy, and leading product improvement efforts. This role is essential in maintaining high manufacturing standards and enhancing product quality.

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of product engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, working with engineered valves and automation.
  • PE highly preferred.
  • Experience with castings, forgings, and machining operations.
  • Knowledge of various materials, especially grades of steel and alloys.
  • Understanding of international standards relating to valves preferred, such as ASME B16.34, API 6A, API 6D.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering design support for metallic valves.
  • Provide technical support for sales orders and inquiries.
  • Ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Provide customer service support for new inquiries.
  • Lead product improvement activities.
  • Drive process improvements within engineering.

Job description

The primary responsibility of this position is to support Sales, Engineering and Manufacturing by performing necessary research regarding feasibility, viability of customer/quote specifications by reviewing drawings, diagrams, BOM’s, quote information customer/application specifications and performing all necessary engineering and material application calculations

Job Responsibilities:

  • Providing engineering design support for metallic valves and automation equipment – these include ball, gate and check valves and automation components going into some of the world’s most critical and severe process applications
  • Providing design engineering support for daily incoming sales orders, providing technical support for sales quotations and customer inquiries, and working with manufacturing and quality assurance to resolve production issues in a timely manner
  • Ensuring engineering design and standards documentation is complete, accurate, and sufficient in support of manufacturing and quality assurance activities
  • Providing technical and customer service support for new customer inquiries including the design of special products, technical evaluations of project sales quotations, application and troubleshooting assistance, and evaluations of returned goods
  • Leading product improvement activities including manufacturability, material cost, and performance enhancements
  • Driving and participating in process improvements within the engineering department in an effort to meet departmental metric goals, including but not limited to product design, bills of material, and drawing throughput, engineering change releases and corrective action request closure rates, and design and bills of material error rates

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to use engineering design and analysis tools, as well as Microsoft Office software and other productivity tools; understanding of AutoCAD 2D and SolidWorks 3D
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • A proven ability to effectively manage engineering teams and projects
  • Self-starter; sets high standards for self and others; strong critical-thinking skills; highly customer-centric; consistently meets commitments
Core Qualifications
