Job summary

Southern-States-LLC is seeking an Application Engineer I to develop and review drawing packages for high‑voltage switchgear and power switching devices. You will work with sales, manufacturing and quality teams as the technical advisor and product advocate, producing precise drawings for fabricators and customers and solving technical challenges with dependable solutions.

Qualifications

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or A.A.S. in CAD and Design with four years of experience.
Proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD; MS Office Suite.
Strong knowledge of mechanical and structural calculations.
Experience with statics and mechanics; attention to detail.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Willing to travel ≤10%.

Responsibilities

Create and modify 2D and 3D engineering drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
Conduct static analysis to ensure the integrity and safety of product designs.
Perform mechanical, structural, and electrical calculations to support product design and development.
Utilize GD&T principles to ensure accurate manufacturing and assembly of components.
Conduct feasibility studies and provide technical support to address customer inquiries and issues.
Participate in design reviews and suggest product improvements.
Stay up to date with industry trends in mechanical, structural, and electrical engineering.
Maintain expert level of product knowledge and application.
Identify customer needs and engineering opportunities to help future growth.
Travel to project sites for start-up, integration, and training services.
