Job summary

PowerSafe Automation is seeking an experienced Applications Engineer to join our team. This role blends engineering, sales, and customer management to develop safe machine guarding solutions for manufacturing facilities nationwide.

You will travel to customer sites across the United States, provide technical support, propose concepts, prepare quotations, and help manage projects from concept to completion. Strong communication and OSHA knowledge are valued.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar engineering or technical sales role.
• OSHA safety regulations knowledge and manufacturing environments.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• As an Applications Engineer, serve as a trusted advisor to customers while helping develop and implement custom machine guarding solutions.
• Perform onsite machine guarding and safety assessments.
• Develop conceptual engineering solutions based on customer needs.
• Gather project information to prepare designs and quotations.
• Build relationships with new and existing customers.
• Develop and maintain a healthy sales pipeline.
• Follow up on project quotations and sales opportunities.

This position combines engineering, sales, and customer relationship management to develop innovative machine guarding solutions for manufacturing facilities across the United States.

This is a nationwide opportunity. We are seeking the best candidate regardless of where they live within the U.S. Because this role requires frequent travel to customer sites throughout the country, candidates who live within a reasonable driving distance of a major commercial airport are strongly preferred.

What You'll Do

As an Applications Engineer, you'll serve as a trusted advisor to customers while helping develop and implement custom machine guarding solutions.

• Perform onsite machine guarding and safety assessments.
• Develop conceptual engineering solutions based on customer needs.
• Gather project information to prepare designs and quotations.
• Build relationships with new and existing customers.

Technical Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to customers, engineering staff, and installation teams.
• Stay current on OSHA regulations, machine safety standards, and emerging technologies.
• Maintain awareness of industry competitors and new products.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Document customer interactions and sales activity in the company's CRM.
• Submit sales reports and updates to the Sales Manager.

Professional Development

• Continue learning through books, seminars, podcasts, and industry training.
• Assist in developing modern sales strategies as market conditions evolve.

General Responsibilities

• Follow company policies, ethics, and professional standards.
• Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to workplace safety.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who has:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar engineering or technical sales role.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and manufacturing environments.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Outstanding organization and time management skills.
• The ability to work independently while managing multiple projects.
• Willingness to travel approximately 60% of the time.
• Experience with industrial automation, machine guarding, manufacturing equipment, or industrial safety solutions is highly preferred.
• Full-Time, Exempt Position
• Starting salary of $70,000+, based on experience
• Salary amount or optional commission schedule is negotiable based on experience
• 40+ hours per week
• Daily travel per diem (paid weekly)
