Qualifications

• Two (2) years’ experience in an applications role, technical sales role, or as a Field Service Engineer.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and travel up to 25%.
• Clean and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate Bystronic machines to prospective customers.
• Provide functional and technical support.
• Host customer visits and perform software demonstrations.
• Analyze customers’ machine and tooling requirements.
• Support the Sales Team with applications.

Job description

The Application Engineer demonstrates Bystronic machines and their capabilities to prospective customers.

What you will be doing:

• Applications Engineers take pride in their job and are given the freedom to provide functional and technical support.
• With input from our Sales Engineers, we demonstrate our machines’ functions and capabilities.
• You will be able to perform time studies, prepare for shows (on and off site), and demonstrate all Bystronic Machines.
• Your goal is to operate machinery and maintain the General Fabrication area.

Key tasks and Responsibilities:

• Host customer visits and work directly with customers regarding applications, technology and product details.
• Perform cutting and software demonstrations for potential customers.
• Instruct on metal applications, machine operations and laser/mechanical safety.
• Analyze customers’ machine and tooling requirements and instruct on BySoft software.
• Provide test cuts and time studies for potential customers.
• Provide technical support via phone assistance.
• Support the Sales Team with strategic and key applications (on and off site).
• Instruct on machine maintenance procedures.
• Design in‑house software support.
• Fabricate demonstration parts to show the Bystronic capabilities.
• Maintain demo area and equipment.

Key Skillset:

• Have or be able to obtain a passport; up to 25% travel; be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
• Have and maintain a clean and valid driver’s licence and be able to rent a car.
• Excellent communication skills, oral and written, with strong attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint & Excel.
• Knowledge of trigonometry and metallurgy.
• Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics and blueprint reading.
• CNC programming, CAD software, robotic programming and Ladder Logic a plus.
• Working knowledge of metal applications operations.

Your education & experience:

• Two (2) year degree or higher preferred in Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• Minimum two (2) years’ experience in an apps role, technical sales role, or as a Field Service Engineer.
