Job summary

AtWork Personnel | Charlotte East is seeking an experienced Application Engineer to join a growing team focused on electric motor control systems and industrial control panels. You will translate customer requirements into electrical panel circuitry and provide accurate schematics and quotations.

You will collaborate with engineering, sales, procurement, and production, ensure NEC compliance, and support manufacturing on technical issues. Occasional travel to other facilities is expected.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Application Engineer to join a growing engineering team specializing in electric motor control systems and industrial control panels.

The Application Engineer will be responsible for reviewing customer requirements and technical specifications, understanding customer applications, and designing electrical panel circuitry to meet specific project needs.

This position works closely with engineering, sales, procurement, and production teams to develop technical solutions, select appropriate components, and ensure projects meet customer expectations. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), experience with electric motor control circuits, and the ability to translate customer requirements into accurate electrical schematics.

Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical panel circuitry based on customer requirements and technical specifications.
• Review customer specifications and communicate with the sales team to clarify technical requirements.
• Select and specify appropriate electrical components, including brands, models, and part numbers.
• Prepare accurate and timely commercial quotations based on technical specifications, pricing, and customer needs.
• Provide technical support and recommendations to the procurement team.
• Coordinate with production and procurement to determine the best technical solutions for customer applications.
• Participate in customer calls to gather technical information and clarify project requirements.
• Provide immediate technical guidance and troubleshooting support to the production team when needed.
• Prioritize time-sensitive production issues while effectively managing daily engineering responsibilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed accurately and efficiently.
• Travel occasionally to other manufacturing facilities, approximately 10 days or fewer per year.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience in electrical engineering, application engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience designing electrical schematics and wiring diagrams based on customer application requirements.
• Strong understanding of electric motor control circuits.
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with AutoCAD LT or equivalent CAD software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a desire to collaborate closely with different teams.
• Excellent listening skills and the ability to understand customer needs.
• Curious, analytical, and solution-oriented mindset.
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines.
