Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Switzerland AG in El Segundo, CA is seeking an Application Engineer to provide technical support to aerospace customers, understand their needs and deliver practical solutions with cross-functional teams including R&D, manufacturing, and sales.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, 3 years’ engineering experience (Masters counted as 2 years), CAD proficiency (CATIA/SolidWorks/NX), experience with product design and complex surfaces, plus strong

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical discipline.
• 3 years of engineering experience, customer-facing preferred (Master's counts as 2 years).
• 2 years’ experience with CAD and engineering software (CATIA, SolidWorks, or NX).
• 2 years’ experience in product design, including complex surfaces, assemblies, and kinematics.
• Proficiency in Word and PowerPoint; strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Partner with customers to understand intermediate technical needs and provide solutions.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for customers.
• Complete intermediate design reviews for new opportunities.
• Conduct intermediate critical design reviews for new product development.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation (models, drawings, procedures).
• Support sales with technical information and product demonstrations.
• Process engineering change requests internally and externally.
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and sales to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Partner with 3rd party suppliers to support product gaps.

Job description

As an Application Engineer you will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise to our customers in the aerospace industry. Our aerospace group at Trelleborg provides customers with innovative polymer solutions for applications ranging from airframe & engine to interiors. In this role, you will work with customers to understand their technical needs and provide solutions, collaborate with cross-functional teams such as R&D, manufacturing, and sales to ensure customer satisfaction. This role requires a strong background in engineering and a passion for problem-solving.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Partner with customers to understand their intermediate technical needs and provide solutions
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for customers
• Complete intermediate preliminary design reviews for new business opportunities
• Complete intermediate critical design reviews for new product development
• Create and maintain engineering documentation (models, drawings, and procedures)
• Support the sales team by providing technical information and product demonstrations
• Process engineering change requests internally and externally
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure customer satisfaction (e.g., R&D, manufacturing, sales)
• Partner with 3rd party suppliers as needed to support product gaps

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical discipline
• 3 years of experience in an engineering role, preferably in a customer-facing role with a Master's degree counting as 2 years of experience
• 2 years’ experience with CAD and engineering software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, or NX)
• 2 years’ experience in product design, including experience with complex surfaces, assemblies, and kinematics
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
• Strong analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills
• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude
• Ability to self-manage and successfully work without supervision
• Ability to handle and prioritize dynamic workload
• Strong oral and written communication
• Excellent organizational skills
• Proven proficiency with presentations and public speaking

Travel:

• 20% domestic and international

The final compensation offered to the candidate may be based on geographical location, work experience and/or skill level. Additions to the compensation packing, including but not limited to paid time off, insurance benefits and 401(k) eligibility, will be outlined at the time of the job offer.

Compensation range:

$80,000-$110,000
