Job summary

The University of Houston System is seeking a programmer/analyst for on-site work in the Electrical Engineering department. The role involves coding, testing, debugging, modifying, and troubleshooting application programs and ad-hoc programs to support a university program.

Qualifications

  • Documents data structures, run streams, applications, programs and other objects according to generally accepted practices.
  • Provides departmental support for enterprise systems; identifies problems with an application or function.
  • Learns new technologies and techniques.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Description:

Develops and modifies application programs and ad-hoc programsin support of a user department or a university/college program orfunction, under direct supervision.

Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, thisposition researches, works on, or has access to criticalinfrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security orintegrity of the University infrastructure. This position requirespersonnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or notcriminal history or continuous connections for the government orpolitical apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent theemployee from being able to maintain the security or integrity ofthe infrastructure.

1. Codes, tests, debugs, modifies and troubleshoots applicationprograms and ad-hoc programs in accordance with shopstandards.
2. Develops, tests and runs ad-hoc programs to create reports,rosters, etc.
3. Assists with installation, testing and troubleshooting ofvendor-supported applications.
4. Assists users with understanding, testing and using programs,which includes running programs for users.
5. Documents data structures, run streams, applications, programsand other objects according to generally accepted practices.
6. Provides departmental support for enterprise systems; identifiesproblems with an application or function.
7. Learns new technologies and techniques.
8. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

This position is 100% on-site.

MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical andpractical aspects of an analytical, technical or professionaldiscipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professionaldiscipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtainedthrough a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a collegeor university or an equivalent in-depth specialized trainingprogram that is directly related to the type of work beingperformed. No experience is required.
