The University of Houston, Technology Services & Support, seeks a Network Analyst to design, install, and maintain a large enterprise LAN/WAN and Wireless environment, delivering voice, data and video services. The role involves policy design, performance analysis and ensuring security/compliance for critical infrastructure.
Responsibilities include configuring complex networks, monitoring performance, diagnosing issues, and supporting/leading network operations on assigned projects.

Installs and maintains a large, enterprise LAN / WAN / Wireless environment that provides voice, data and video services. Designs network architecture, implements network policy, and analyzes performance. Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.
1. Designs, installs, supports and maintains complex LAN/WAN and/or Wireless networks and network systems.
2. Monitors and analyzes performance, utilization and availability of LAN/WAN and/or Wireless networks.
3. Identifies, diagnoses and resolves technical problems related to network failure/integrity and in support of efficient network operations.
4. Develops, recommends and implements network standards and policies, monitors compliance with established standards.
5. Evaluates and recommends networking product and software upgrades and improvements.
6. Compiles performance metrics and provides reports to management.
7. Consults with and advises Network Operations staff and may lead technical support staff for assigned projects.
8. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Department is willing to accept experience in lieu of education.
MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment but may involve moderate exposure to unpleasant elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt dust, fumes, smoke, loud noises, chemicals, etc. May involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions.
Position requires moderate physical activity as this is a field analyst position. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or stranding and/or walking for long periods of time (more than 4 hours per day).
Work environment involves some exposure to physical risks that require following basic safety precautions (such as climbing ladders and working at heights up to 20 feet or more).
This position will require being on an on-call rotation with the other analysts on the team. It will also require participation in the “Ride Out Team” rotation.
