Nightwing is seeking a Full Stack Web Application Developer SME to join our Herndon, VA team. You will work on enterprise-wide applications and data-centric mission systems, collaborating with software, ETL, and data science teams to enhance production apps and develop new services on an agile cadence.

The role offers opportunities to expand expertise in AI/ML and contribute to national security and intelligence missions through modern web technologies and cloud deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 6+ years of web development experience; master’s can substitute for 2 years.
• Experience with Agile development teams (Scrum/Kanban).
• Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and GitHub.
• Extensive web app development using Angular, React, or JavaScript; Java Spring is a plus.
• 8–10 years in web development; 6–8 years Linux experience.
• 4–6 years deploying apps in Commercial Cloud Services (C2S) or other clouds (AWS/Azure/Oracle/GC).
• 2–3 years with search/analytic tools (ElasticSearch/Solr/OpenSearch).
• Strong OO programming (Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, SQL).
• Experience with Docker or Podman for containerization.

Responsibilities

• Integrate AI/ML into production web apps to enhance functionality and performance.
• Participate in iterative Agile development with sprint planning and reviews.
• Design, develop, and unit-test code for production systems.
• Create rapid prototypes to validate requirements and inform design decisions.
• Provide demos and walkthroughs of features to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Analyze requirements with stakeholders and translate into actionable tasks.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation (workflows, integrations, compliance).
• Optimize performance for scalability, security, and maintainability in dynamic environments.
• Collaborate with data scientists/engineers to incorporate analytics tools.
• Evaluate and implement emerging tech including ML frameworks and NLP tools.

About The Role

Nightwing is currently seeking a Full Stack Web Application Developer Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team in Herndon, VA. This pivotal role involves working on a suite of services designed to provide users with tools that automate a broad spectrum of enterprise-wide applications and data-centric mission management systems. As part of a multidisciplinary team comprising Software Developers, ETL Developers, and Data Scientists, the successful candidate will be instrumental in enhancing existing production applications and developing new web services on a routine, agile development cadence. This position offers a unique opportunity for experienced software developers to expand their expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), contributing to cutting-edge projects that impact national security and intelligence operations.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field, with a minimum of six years of relevant experience; a master's degree can substitute for an additional two years of experience. Mandatory skills include demonstrated experience working within Agile development teams following Scrum and Kanban methodologies, proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and GitHub, and extensive web application development experience using frameworks such as Angular, React, or JavaScript, with Java Spring being a plus. Candidates should have at least 8-10 years of experience in web development, 6-8 years working in Linux environments, and 4-6 years deploying applications in Commercial Cloud Services (C2S) or other cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, Oracle, or Google Cloud. Additional qualifications include 2-3 years of experience with search and analytic tools like ElasticSearch, Solr, or OpenSearch, and ETL processes involving large structured and unstructured data sets. Strong programming skills in Object-Oriented languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, or SQL are essential, along with expertise in containerization technologies like Docker or Podman. Candidates must have the ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
