Job summary

Humboldt Park Health in Chicago is seeking a Clinical Applications Analyst to maintain, implement, configure, and support our healthcare information systems such as Athena and Meditech. You will quickly understand business needs and deliver practical IT solutions.

You will work with IT staff and clinical users to optimize workflows, create run books, train superusers, and ensure system uptime. This role requires a patient-focused, detail-oriented professional with a background in hospital IT

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Computer Science.
  • 1–3 years experience with hospital electronic health record applications or hospital financial applications as end user or IT Applications Analyst.
  • PMP or healthcare IT certifications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Learn operation, integration and maintenance of assigned software applications and HL7 interfaces.
  • Adhere to policies and industry practices defined by ITIL/ISO and regulatory agencies.
  • Serve as primary technical contact for implementation, operation, design and support of revenue applications (scheduling, registration, coding, billing) including Athena and Meditech.
  • Collaborate with IT staff, department representatives, superusers, and vendors to optimize reliability and accuracy of clinical software.
  • Produce and maintain system-related documentation and training materials for users and IT relief staff.
  • Communicate progress, challenges and resolutions to peers and management using tracking systems for projects, changes, incidents, requests, and training.
  • Ensure quality change control processes to increase system uptime and stability.
  • Utilize Learning Management System to define curriculum and track competency.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours support

Position Summary:

The Clinical Applications Analyst is responsible for overall maintenance, implementation, configuration, and support of assigned healthcare information systems utilized by Humboldt Park Health including Athena, Meditech, and others. The Analyst is accountable for quickly understanding the business practices/issues/needs/challenges, documenting the aforementioned clearly and delivering solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Learn the operation, integration and maintenance of assigned software applications and affected HL7 interfaces.
  • Learns, employs and adheres to HPH policies, regulatory requirements and industry practices standard as defined by ITIL, ISO and governmental agencies such as IDPH, IDHS and CMS.
  • Serves as a primary technical contact for implementation, operation, design and support of revenue applications/systems: scheduling, registration, coding and billing and collections - including Athena and Meditech.
  • Works with IT staff, user department representatives, superusers, and vendors to optimize the business benefit, reliability and accuracy of clinical software applications. Helps various departments align operational procedures and workflows with system functionality.
  • Produces and maintains system-related documentation including: how-to instructions for IT relief staff, and run books for IT disaster recovery / business continuity. Assists department leaders develop their downtime procedures.
  • Timely communicates and documents progress, challenges and resolutions to peers, management, user management, and vendors using designated tracking systems for all activities including: projects, changes, incidents, requests, and training, especially on urgent or protracted activities.
  • For changes, customization, and upgrades, trains superusers and/or supervisors in new/revised functions/routines. Obtains and/or develops learning materials and provides materials to user management for distribution to users.
  • Timely communicates and documents progress, challenges and resolutions to peers, management, user management, and vendors using designated tracking systems for all activities including: projects, changes, incidents, requests, and training, especially on urgent or protracted activities.
  • Ensure quality change control management processes are followed to increase system up time and stability.
  • Utilizes the HPH Learning Management System to define curriculum, publish courses, offer learning sessions, track student competency and completion whenever possible.
  • Satisfactorily works assigned on-call (off-hours) call rotation schedule, and answers business hours help desk calls.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Computer Science major areas
  • 1-3 years experience in hospital electronic health record applications or hospital financial applications as either an end user or IT Applications Analyst

PMP preferred, HIMSS or other healthcare IT related certifications preferred
