Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a healthcare IT analyst to support application implementations, adoptions, enhancements and ongoing support across departments. You will gather requirements, analyze data flows and document current and future state processes, while coordinating with stakeholders and vendors.

The role involves testing, training material development, and participation in 24x7 support rotations. A strong grounding in government programs (Medicare/Medicaid) and CMS compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) – Required.
• Minimum of 2 years - Relevant experience – Required.
• Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, Dual Eligible and other government programs.
• Knowledge of healthcare payer operations, CMS regulations and government program processes.
• Experience with requirements management, data analysis, testing, system integration, and production support.
• Knowledge of healthcare administration systems, data flows, reporting, and technology solutions supporting government programs.

• Completes system build and documentation in accordance with guidelines and change management policy.
• Participates in vendor review and testing of peripherals and devices that interface with assigned applications.

Job Summary

Responsible for the performance of tasks related to application implementation, adoption, enhancement, and support. This includes but is not limited to analysis, development, training, testing, documentation, go-live and on-going support, problem resolution, and maintenance.

Job Duties

• Develops a strong understanding of assigned application(s).
• Meets with relevant personnel to perform data collection through discussions, workflow observations and document review. Develops an understanding of best practice workflows. Identifies opportunities to modify current state workflows to increase efficiency or effectiveness.
• Produces documentation including current and future state workflows, pros/cons, gap analysis, needs assessments, design specifications, build documentation, test plans, project plans, status reports and transitionary documentation.
• Performs application testing including unit and scenario-based testing.
• Learns to apply critical thinking to problem solving and strives to understand the root cause of the issue.
• Communicates effectively with peers, informaticians, stakeholders, project teams, and leadership. Provides regular updates regarding work status via standard documentation tools and/or huddles, meetings, etc. Learns and begins to apply appropriate issue escalation.
• Completes system build and documentation in accordance with department guidelines and in adherence to change management policy.
• Actively participates in meetings by being an engaged listener and offering both feedback and input.
• Prepares training material and conducts training classes in either virtual or in-person settings.
• Adheres to best practices regarding information security.
• Participates in team on-call rotation to provide 24x7x365 support to assigned areas.
• Provides remote and/or on-site support as needed to end-users.
• Supports system upgrades, patches, and monitoring.
• Assists in the preparation of department guidelines, standards, procedures, and policies.
• Participates in vendor review and selection processes.
• Participates in testing the integration and technical requirements of peripherals and devices that interface with or integrate with assigned applications. Examples include laboratory instruments, radiology modalities, medication cabinets, printers, and scanners.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned by emergency or other operational reasons for which the employee is qualified to perform.

Position Details

Preferred Government Programs, Business & Technical Analysis Experience

• Demonstrated experience supporting Medicare, Medicaid, Dual Eligible, and other government-sponsored healthcare programs.
• Proven ability to perform business analysis and technical analysis, including gathering, documenting, and translating business, operational, and regulatory requirements into system solutions.
• Strong understanding of healthcare payer operations, CMS regulations, compliance requirements, and government program processes.
• Experience partnering with business stakeholders and technical teams to analyze processes, define requirements, support system enhancements, and implement regulatory initiatives.
• Experience with requirements management, data analysis, testing, system integration, and production support in a regulated healthcare environment.
• Knowledge of healthcare administration systems, data flows, reporting, and technology solutions supporting government programs.
